Savar’Aving
The Savar’Aving are a matriarchal race of cat-people, appearing as humanoid hunting cats. Deep in the dark forest lies their capital city, Felnir. Their society, ruled by women, views male Savar’Aving as second class. It is rare to find a free dominant male Savar’Aving and even more rare for him to live long. The Savar’Aving are a strong, proud race with deep ties to nature and the mysterious Grey Elves. They have recently suffered a catastrophic plague, necromantic in origin, killing many of their people before returning them through Undeath. The few that remain now struggle to put to rest their Undead sisters and attempt to rebuild. All this happened, perhaps coincidentally, around the same time as the Fulmination and the disappearance of the mysterious Grey Elves. The Savar’Aving were originally known simply as the Savar, but those who survived the plague began to call themselves Savar’Aving to remind themselves that, no matter what fate throws at them, they will triumph.
While Savar’Aving resemble cats, they are no more cats than humans are monkeys.

History
Before the plague, Savar’Aving culture was largely based on independence. Though they lived with family members, Savar’Aving did not form Prides. Accordingly, the lands of Felnir were populated by small distant clusters of “villages” and “homesteads” with the capital, Mrrnall, being the most densely built up and populated area.
Males tended to stay close to home in order to take care of children and tend the land, while the females were more likely to leave for long journeys or to seek out adventure and fortune.
In the year 2235, a plague, necromantic in nature, struck Felnir and wiped out 70% of the existing Savar’Aving. This led to change. The remaining Savar’Aving formed together in families or “Prides” in an effort to wipe out their now Undead kin and rebuild their shattered civilization.
Before the plague, the Wolven of Aslak and the Savar’Aving of Felnir warred with one another over territory. During the plague, the Wolven were very helpful in culling the Undead, and since then the two nations have come to a strained peace with few open engagements.
Geography
Most Savar’Aving hail from the Kingdom of Felnir: a large, secluded valley surrounded by mountainous region north of Tiefanue and south of Aslak. It is believed that the Grey Elves gave all the land for the Savar’Aving to hold, but it was this place that they chose to live. They allow other races to live on the rest of their land, for now.
The valley is replete with plains, smaller valleys, hills, forested areas, streams, and small lakes. Mrrnall, the Capital of Felnir, is the largest settlement and this is where all business is done. Mrrnall is ruled by the Allana Pride, led by the Queen Matriarch, Seltia Allana. Recently, Matriarch Daya of Pride Grē established the outpost of Abhayāraṇya in the heart of the blighted lands as a step towards reclaiming the land that has been overrun by the Savar’Aving’s Undead kin. At one time, Felnir held alliances with Suvant and the Grey Elves, but the alliances vanished with the disappearances of Suvant and the Grey Elves and have not been re-established since their return.
In the northeast of the island of Lowgarryn, Savar’Aving roam and farm in communes, alongside tribes of Wild Elves known as the ‘Woad’ and Wood Fae in the remnant of the Ebon Wood. The Savar’Aving are treated as lesser citizens by their sabretoothed cousins known as Felids, a strain of the bestial race who have been cleansed of the Plague. Though there is no official capital of the communes, there is only one walled keep, the settlement of Malbai. The communes are led by a Savar’Aving peasant known as Anita Grey.
Castes
Royalty
The Allana bloodline is less of a Pride and more of a family to whom the Savar’Aving of Felnir owe their fealty. It was they who ruled Felnir before the Plague and it was to them that the survivors turned to for guidance. Seltia Allana is the current Queen Matriarch. She is characterized by a guarded demeanour, rarely making political decisions without first accepting advisement from her inner council of high noble matriarchs from around her realm.
Nobility
The noble Prides of Savar’Aving are said to descend from the ‘purest’ of the race. How exactly one defines purity differs depending on who is being asked, though even the least influential Prides of this caste still have lengthy genealogical records do support their claims that they have not bred with other races. It is from their private libraries that most casters come, be they born from the noble Pride itself or being sent off to study under them. The Grē is a notable bloodline for being purported as the most directly connected to the Grey Elves. Their current matriarch, Dayā, is a firm conservative who believes that the Savar’Aving can overcome their plight through force of will and maintaining the wholesomeness of their race. She ordered the establishment of a walled outpost, named Abhayāraṇya, in the heart of the blighted land in hopes that would inspire a further effort to reclaim what was lost. It is there that her Pride and others now reside beneath her reign.
Warrior
Warrior Prides are the stalwart defenders of the race, trained to defend what remains of the Savar’Aving of Felnir and have in turn been granted a rank of respect in the Kingdom’s caste system. Though primarily trained as hunters of the Undead, the method by which each individual exacts their hunt differs depending on the Pride. Most of these Prides are trained with a specialty in mind, including the Aaarti as frontline warriors and the Ravi as more roguish tacticians, all having need for a variety of other areas of expertise such as healing and blacksmithing. Once born into this caste it is rare to transition from it, though exceptions have been made for veterans whose wounds make them infirm.
Commoner
Commoner Prides consist of those not recognized by the caste system. Strangely enough they tend to be the freest of the Prides and show a greater diversity in characteristics. The Vyāpārī, as one example, are a Pride of dedicated merchants and craftsmen who travel between the Prides of Felnir and beyond. Despite not being as respected as the warrior Prides, their services are truly as valuable for it is primarily through the trading caste that they and other like-minded Prides established the basic necessities that are delivered to the people of Felnir.
The Gandagī or ‘Dirt’ Pride, in contrast, is a Pride made up primarily of those born of impure breeding, that is, whose father is not a Savar’Aving, and bastards. These improper younglings are taken from their parents, no matter their parental status, and thrown to the Gandagī to take care of, after being de-clawed to show to the world that they are not pure Savar’Aving. These unfortunate souls are raised under the strict guidance of the self-proclaimed Pride Mother Sam’māna Kē binā to perform the physical labour required for the Kingdom. Despite the value of their services, members often depart Felnir due to the distasteful treatment commonly taken by purebloods: paying no heed to their existence.
Mating
The sexual maturity of a Savar’Aving is reached at around 7 to 9 years of age, though it is not social custom for Savar’Aving to breed at this age. Most females will start breeding around 14 years old.
Savar’Aving society is, for the most part, heterosexual. However, homosexuality does occur in many Prides. Most Savar’Aving turn a blind eye to female homosexuality, provided that the females are still able to breed. Male homosexuality, however, is considered to be socially unacceptable. In large Prides where there are a limited number of females, not every male wins favour, so they entertain themselves. Savar’Aving know that homosexuality exists, but they are very private about it. There is no open male homosexuality in a Pride. As long as the females and males are still producing offspring, what they do in their spare time doesn’t really matter.
Females will generally ‘claim’ the male in which they are interested. Males can claim a female as well, though it is not looked upon as favourable for them to do so. To claim a Savar’Aving, the female will state her intentions to them and ‘mark’ them, usually a scratch on the face or neck. The most universally recognized sign of a claimed Savar’Aving is a single scratch across one cheek, though other similar marks are also understood. In addition to stating intentions and marking their desired partner, the initiator will make an offering to the immediate family or the closest equivalent of their desired partner. This offering is usually given to the mother, sister, or closest applicable substitute. This step is omitted if there is no one with any sort of claim on the intended, e.g.: if the desired partner is Pride-less or has no family.
When Savar’Aving mate, or get married, in the common vernacular, it is for life. If one spouse dies, the other will never remarry. The ceremony is sweet, simple and to the point. The two join hands and a piece of fabric is wrapped around them. With their free hands, they mark each other in some manner. These wounds are left to heal naturally so that they scar. These scars, often on the neck and chest, are recognized by other Savar’Aving as their marriage bonds. Tokens of affection are also welcome but not necessary.
For the survival of the race the primary purpose of mating ought to be to reproduce. Since it is the mother who passes on the race of the offspring a great deal of pressure is put on them by their society to bear litters. Accordingly to mate with a non-Savar’Aving is a grave societal taboo, especially amongst females. Should a female Savar’Aving mate with a non-Savar’Aving it is taken to be a slight against their people, that an individual’s transgressive emotions, be they love or lust, are more important than the continuation of the race. Even mating with other bestials is looked down upon. Keeping Savar’Aving bloodlines ‘pure’, without the introduction of other bestial races, is a high priority for most Prides. This mindset of purity has led to further tension between them and the Wolven of Aslak, who due to their close proximity heighten their threat to dirty the Savar’Avingian bloodlines. Those born of a pairing between a Savar’Aving and a non-Savar’Aving are denounced by most Prides of Felnir as a member of the Gandagī or ‘Dirt’ Caste and have their claws removed as a physical mark of impurity. That said, it would be an egregious error to assume all those who have had their claws removed to be members of the Dirt Caste.
Male widowers will sometimes join a society of other males. The purpose of these types of organizations are to carry out acts important to the Savar’Aving people, such as capturing criminals and quelling other threats. The lives of these Savar’Aving are essentially considered unimportant, as they cannot produce offspring, and they devote the rest of their lives to their chosen duties. Female widows usually step back into a more docile role in the Pride and become healers, caregivers or take up other positions of importance, though they will never retain their former glory.
Most Savar’Aving of breeding age will experience a serious need to mate in the springtime. This need can sometimes be extremely hard to suppress, and it is not uncommon for Savar’Aving who can no longer mate, having lost their partner, to spend some time away from others for awhile to avoid dishonouring themselves and their former mates.
Even as many of the above customs surrounding love, marriage, and sexuality are still adhered to by the Savar’Aving on Lowgarryn they are not as culturally enforced as the Prides on Maud’madir. The gender boundaries and mating practices are far less absolute, making for a far more egalitarian society and a greater freedom to embrace their emotions. Even as sexual acts are more socially permissible practices matings themselves are still strictly between a male and a female Savar’Aving.
Children
When Savar’Aving get pregnant, it is spoken of in terms of having a litter. A female Savar’Aving can have a litter of anywhere from one to three cubs, though four cubs in one litter is not uncommon. The average gestation period is approximately 6 months.
Litters were larger and stronger before the Plague; stillbirths were rare and most cubs grew up healthy. Since the Plague, however, the Savar’Aving have noted an increase in breeding difficulties. Litters are smaller, there is a higher risk of sickness, weakness and stillbirth, and the cubs are born smaller overall.
Ever since the Plague, Savar’Aving society places a very high importance on breeding to aid in rebuilding the race as a whole. While it is still expected that each Savar’Aving will only have one mate, each pair is likely to breed multiple times. The actual event of childbirth involves the entire Pride. Depending on the size of the Pride, at least one female Savar’Aving will aid the mother, but there can be several females involved in the birthing process. The rest of the Pride forms an outward-facing circle to watch for danger and to protect the mother and her future cubs. Even in the safety of a well-established town, this ritual is still carried out. It is not only for practical reasons; it signifies the Pride’s dedication to protecting each other and the involvement of all in the raising of the young.
Cubs, often called ‘younglings’, are raised with the rest of their littermates, mainly by their parents. The entire Pride will often help in their raising, with each member teaching the children something they specialize in.
Cubs are not named immediately. There is a month’s wait in order to observe the personality of the young one and name them accordingly, and also to prove that the cub is strong enough to survive. Names are given to match the budding personality of the cub. Each name has a specific meaning which is determined by the parents. Names are very important to the Savar’Aving.
Savar’Aving can either have claws or be de-clawed. De-clawing is determined at a very young age by what the Pride needs at the time of birth. Examples of why one may have their claws removed include the following: birth defects, the Pride requiring a healer so that he/she can perform the precise act of healing without claws being in the way. De-clawing individuals is rare and is seen as a sign of lower status in most areas of Felnir due to its association as a mark of impurity due to interracial breeding common in Prides. Contrariwise, amongst the communes in Lowgarryn it is common practice for Savar’Aving to remove the claws of their younglings, seeing them as a decadent facet of their oppressors and thus their removal as a mark of resistance.
Funeral Rites
When a Savar’Aving has reached the end of their life, or they are killed in battle, it is customary for the Savar’Aving to cremate their dead. The ashes are scattered, usually in the forest, to symbolize the return to their original roots. Graves are not commonly marked and there is no official ceremony involved in the cremation, but a shrine to the departed is created back at home. The shrines can be outdoors or indoors, and they consist of an assortment of items or tokens that represented the deceased Savar’Aving.
Religion
Most Savar’Aving follow Gods relevant to their profession, and though worship of Ryiak is reasonably common, it is not universal. There are a number of churches and shrines to Ryiak and other gods throughout Felnir. In contrast, many of the Savar’Aving in Lowgarryn are misotheists, seeing the gods as worthless and interested only in gain, much like their Felid oppressors.
Ever since the Plague, the worship of Dark and Necromantic Gods is considered true abomination. Any Savar’Aving caught worshipping or implementing Dark or Necromantic items is immediately killed or exiled.
The Killing Edge
The Killing Edge, or the Madness, can be caused by many things: betrayal, the murder or death of a loved one, the life of a loved one being threatened, and so forth. Male Savar’Aving can be quick to anger, but they are lucky as they have the ability to calm themselves down; they have the ability to step back from the Killing Edge. It has been said that some males cannot calm themselves down on their own, that they require a female, preferably their mate, to soothe their temper. The females, on the other hand, cannot step back from the Killing Edge as easily. They need either to succeed in their goal, or have a male calm them down. Once the threat is dealt with, the Killing Edge fades to nothing.
If the threat cannot be dealt with, a female will stay trapped in her Killing Edge. The female will remain trapped in her anger until she passes beyond the Edge and becomes what is known as a Lost One. The Lost Ones are Savar’Aving who have become lost in their fury and anger. A Savar’Aving who has become a Lost One will never go back to the way they were before – they are forever changed.
There is still hope for the female Savar’Aving. A male Savar’Aving has the ability to draw a female back from the Killing Edge. If the female Savar’Aving has gone into her Killing Edge, her male partner can easily bring her back. If the female is not mated, another male in the Pride can successfully bring her back from the Killing Edge, but it is a great deal more difficult. How the male calms the female down depends on their relationship with one another. It has been said that non-Savar’Aving males can sometimes help a female Savar’Aving back from the Killing Edge, but it is uncommon and would depend on the relationship of the couple.
While the exact cause of this phenomenon is not known, what is known is that Savar’Aving were not always this way. One explanation is that the loss of the Grey Elves and the trauma of the plague caused psychological damage to the entire race. Another popular explanation is that the Killing Edge developed after the plague as the Savar’Aving were forced to tap into their bestial nature, without which they would have been unable to kill so many of their Undead kin. Whether the Killing Edge will eventually fade from the Savar’Aving race remains to be seen.
Politics
The Savar’Aving are a matriarchal race. Males are seen as inferior to females, but are very much still needed. It is very rare for a male to hold a position of political power, but the men are essential to the success of a Pride. They are great hunters, warriors, blacksmiths, etc. Politics are very straightforward in a Pride. Savar’Aving do not beat around the bush with their emotions, so when there is a problem it is brought up fairly easily.
All Prides are governed by a Matriarch. A Matriarch is a female Savar’Aving who delegates ranks and responsibilities to her Pride-mates. She will usually designate a military or security officer and a communications officer first and depending on the size of the Pride whatever other positions needed are delegated thereafter.
The Savar’Avingian government of Felnir is somewhat informal, as Prides and individuals are mostly self-governing. Any information of particular importance is delivered to the Queen Matriarch who lives in the center of Felnir, and it is she who will call her kin to war if necessary, or make any important announcements. Each Pride feels a different level of connection to the Queen Matriarch.
Since there is a clear delineation of rank within a Pride, Savar’Aving wanting to move up in the ranks have the ability to challenge one another for their positions. The challenge is made by calling out the defending Savar’Aving’s full name and title, and stating the challenge made. This challenge can be public or private. This is decided upon by the two parties, although there must be a witness, preferably the Matriarch of the Pride. Both Savar’Aving rid themselves of any armour or protective spells, and ready themselves with their claws or equivalent weapons if both are de-clawed. No outside assistance is allowed. The fight is not to the death. If neither the Savar’Aving fighting nor the witness are healers, a potion or bandage must be available. The battle ends as soon as one of the Savar’Aving drops and is unable to fight. If the winning Savar’Aving is the challenger, they take over the position being challenged. If the winning Savar’Aving is the defender, they keep their position. The loser of the fight may take the remaining position, be exiled, or be killed, depending on the circumstances. Such a challenge is never made lightly or often.
On the island of Lowgarryn to the northeast exists a nation of Savar’Aving who have turned away from the Pride system. They have opted to live in communes, where they share common ownership of the means of production and trading amongst themselves rather than minting their own currency. They have taken to eschewing noble titles in favor of elected positions such as chancellor and governor. Within these communes there is an absence of social classes, save for a governor elected by each commune and a single chancellor voted on by the collective.
Crime and Punishment
Crime and punishment are remarkably straightforward in a Pride. It is the duty of the female of highest rank in the Pride to administer appropriate punishments to insubordinate Pridemates; to have an outsider attempt to discipline the Savar’Aving is seen by others as a lack of control over their people and may be taken by the female as a challenge to her authority.
Major crimes are usually similar to those of the civil laws of the area. A few examples of Major crimes are murder of another Savar’Aving, the use of dark magic or dark magic items, rape, adultery, and abduction or intentional injury towards younglings. Even amongst the Savar’Aving of Lowgarryn where intimate relations are more open than amongst the Prides of the mainland adultery is still considered a grave atrocity. While one’s mate is alive it is seen as the gravest breaches of societal expectations to commit adultery, the logic being if one cannot be devoted to even their closest companion for their lifetime they could not be trusted by anyone else.
Major crimes are punishable by death, and if the Savar’Aving in question does not suffer final death, they will be looked down upon for the remainder of their life, exiled from major Prides, and shunned by most of society. It would take a great deal of work for a Savar’Aving to be welcomed back into the Pride as a productive member after committing a Major crime.
There are no concrete punishments for Minor crimes, but if the perpetrator is caught, word will be spread and it is unlikely that anyone will be willing to trust or do business with that Savar’Aving. A few examples of Minor crimes are disturbing the peace, theft, forgery, or any other dishonourable business practice.
Military
Strength is a leading value to the Savar’Aving and it is this virtue combined with skill in wielding their natural weaponry that traditionally determined the merit of an individual. With the spread of the Plague, though, what was once one of the most formidable militaries on Maud’madir decayed away, literally for a great deal of them, as many former sisters-in-arms rose as Undead to attack their still weakened but living kin. The disintegration of the Felnirian Military has since levelled off but the makeup of its ranks, primarily from the warrior caste of Prides, is still considered a small land force when compared to other sovereign states. Still, what they lack in numbers they are said to make up with cunning. As the race was weakened it shifted their focus from an emphasis on physical prowess to other areas of strength: Felnir now boasts an above average aptitude for magic, in its accumulation of arcane knowledge and applying these powers to many facets of life and duty, including the battlefield.
The state of the current military of Felnir can be seen to a lesser extent by the revolutionary Savar’Aving in the communes of Lowgarryn. Chancellor Anita Grey’s people are professional farmers and craftsmen turned amateur soldiers, lacking in both experience and preparation in their fight for freedom. Many have been trained to wield weapons by defectors from the Sultanate and a few have been taught by their Wild Elven and Wood Fae allies to wield a wide range of magical spheres. Nevertheless, the revolutionaries are certainly outmatched by the Sultanate’s military might.
Common Personalities & Views
Savar’Aving tend to be noble and diplomatic, but cautious. Since the disappearance of the Grey Elves, they have become ever more cautious and, some might say, paranoid. Savar’Aving value strength, loyalty, discipline, and self-sacrifice when necessary for the betterment of the race, be it in the form of a loveless mating or taking on a hoard of enemies so that a greater number of Savar’Aving could escape. They tend to look down on those races which lack strength, loyalty, and discipline, seeing them as pathetic, for they have been surmounted in physical and emotional resilience by a race that has suffered greatly through great hardships. Even though males are treated as inferior in the society of Savar’Aving, females will not tolerate the abuse of males in their Pride, especially those who embody the race’s core values: a Savar’Aving, regardless of gender, is still more valuable to the wellbeing of the race than an individual of any other race. Male Savar’Aving do not always give due respect to all females of their race and it is true that there are some females whose orders, if granted the opportunity, would lead the race to ruin. Though for any to vehemently reject and fight against the matriarchal system as a whole would be to discard their people’s established traditions by which they survive, leading the individual to be nothing more than an outcast who only looks like kin.
Oaths are taken incredibly seriously among the Savar’Aving, though it is rare for any to take vows outside of declarations of mating and to other members of the same Pride. Only when one is absolutely certain of a course of action does a Savar’Aving give their word for it is these undertakings of great discipline that keep their passion and emotions in control. They are often intense in their goals and stubborn in their perceptions of the world. Savar’Aving are hands-on learners and it frequently takes personal experience in mistakes or near mistakes for one to be taught a skill or persuaded of an opinion that opposes their standing judgement.
Views on Other Races
Ajaunti: Gaudily clad and carefully watched due to a lack of trust, but potentially good travelling companions.
Bestial: Due to their animalistic similarities they are often seen in a more positive and trusting light, except for Wolven.
Construct: Curiosities. Social experimentation may occur as Savar’Aving investigate whether they can feel emotions and thereafter how far the range of feelings goes.
Dark Elves: Not much is known by the Savar’Aving about the Dark Elves but they are generally untrusted.
Draconic: Most Savar’Aving have no particular leanings for or against this race, save for those who hold walk the path of the divine or draconic.
Einher: The Savar’Aving feel a kinship towards these competent warriors. They are basically Savar’Aving except they have to take the fur off of another as well as have a strange, morbid fascination with dying in battle that is seen as quite opposite to the Savar’Aving’s desire to survive as a race.
Goblinoid: Bottom of the barrel of races. Weak bottom-feeders who are most frequently subservient to stronger races.
Grey Elves: The Grey Elves are greatly respected by the Savar’Aving, as it is believed that it was the Grey Elves that helped the Savar’Aving evolve into the beings they are today. Although no recent communications with the Grey Elves can be spoken of, the Savar’Aving are adamant in the belief of their existence. Because of this, no Savar’Aving will harm any Grey Wolves seen in the wild. They are the only race seen as being above the Savar’Aving. All other races are lesser than the Savar’Aving.
High Elves: The High Elves are respected, up to a point, but in Savar’Aving opinion, they are trying to be what they are not: Grey Elves.
Hobling: Savar’Aving commonly get along well with the Hoblings. They are seen as a fun-loving race, and relatively harmless. They have never been known to lie to Felnir, or any Savar’Aving, and are trusted to make deals and contracts with. However, since they are also seen as flighty, it is good to remind the Hoblings of any contracts made. The two states currently import and export to one another.
Human: Humans are seen as a weak little race, though they are tolerated. They are believed to be close to the bottom of the barrel of the races, only above goblins, kobolds and such.
Ice Elves: Ice Elves are seen as a sub-race of elves that think a little too highly of themselves. Other than this, not much is known about them.
Mountain Dwarves: Though there are few interactions between the two races they are looked upon with distant respect by the Savar’Aving, seeing a reflection of themselves within the proud, isolationist race.
Orc: The Orcs are seen as a rather slow-witted race, but strong. It is the strength of these beings that the Savar’Aving respect.
Stone Elves: Stone Elves are a great curiosity to the Savar’Aving. The idea of not showing any emotional expression is alien to Savar’Aving, and it is not uncommon for Savar’Aving to attach themselves to a Stone Elf in an attempt to learn more about them, as well as try to crack the “emotionless shell”.
True Fae: Creatures of great magical prowess. They are a curiosity to some while most simply keep their distance, for however much help these beings could grant they may also inflict graver misfortune.
Undead: “Abominations! Cleanse them if not for your sake then for the betterment of the race.”
Wild Elves: The Savar’Aving feel a kinship to the Wild Elves. They are seen as a race that does more than just talk. The Wild Elves’ strength and courage to act upon what they decide makes them worthy allies in the eyes of the Savar’Aving. An alliance with the Wild Elves, although not politically official, has always been assumed on the Savar’Aving’s side in Felnir. On Lowgarryn Wild Elves are accepted in the communes of Savar’Aving to trade with their people and live among them if they so choose.
Wolven: Prior to the Plague, Savar’Aving and Wolven treated one another as enemies. Because of their help during the Plague, Savar’Aving now view Wolven with grudging respect. Relations are strained, but peaceful. Savar’Aving appreciate the Wolven’s similar views on the Undead.
Wood Fae: Wood Fae are often looked down upon by Savar’Aving of Maud’madir. While these Savar’Aving believe in taking only one mate, the Wood Fae seem to enjoy multiple partners, and have no trouble cheating on whoever they are bound to. As a result, there is no interest in having any sort of political or contractual agreements with them. “If they can’t stay faithful to each other, why would they stay faithful to us?” The Savar’Aving of Lowgarryn, however, are often off-put by the overt sexuality of most Wood Fae but welcome them all the same into their communes as they appreciate them for their positive outlook, honest work, and cheer.
Roleplaying Tips
- Be passionate but disciplined! It is best to guide one’s emotions through accomplishing goals rather than to repress or become a slave to them.
- Avoid using cat puns and acting like one. To do so is to embrace the slurs other races cast upon them and is a disgrace to each and every one. Any proper Savar’Aving ought to take great offense to these accusations as well as acts and punish any who perpetuate the defamation of their proud people.
- Female Savar’Aving are superior to the males, though to let other females, let alone those of different races, treat one of your Savar’Aving with disrespect is an affront to the entire Pride. Even males may stand up to external slights.
- It can be enjoyable to play the black sheep who stands up against a repressive way of life but remember that Savar’Aving tend to organize themselves in insular groups around their traditions. For a Savar’Aving to reject their racial morals could isolate one’s character from more satisfying roleplay within the community of the Pride – and if everyone is a black sheep, no one is.
- Savar’Aving are steadfast in their beliefs and are accustomed to being dreadfully blunt. They speak their mind, no matter to whom or of what they have opinions on.
